2021 Chairman's Cup National Softball Championship

In the two-day event of 4/10 and 4/11, we played against the National Taiwan University Softball Team and the Pan-Mat Saddle Softball Team respectively.

On the first day of the Taiyuan Softball Stadium in Taichung, we played 34 times in the first two innings and scored 23 points. We still have offensive situations in the follow-up. In this case, we won NTNU by a huge gap of 30:6.

On the second day, the battlefield was changed to the Taichung Golden Dragon Baseball Stadium. We encountered Fanma Taian, who had a completely different style of play from National Taiwan University. Although the opposing pitcher also had unstable ball control in the first inning, he scored 6 points in the overall situation. After a half innings, we encountered a turbulent loss of points and walks, and we were caught up to 1 point gap. Later, Pan Ma Tai started to attack and reversed the leading score. However, we were unable to counterattack, with a score of 8:12. After losing Pan Ma Tai saddle, there was no way to get tickets to advance to the semi-finals.

In this game, although there is no way to make it to the semi-finals, the players all know where they need to improve and hope that they can play better in future games.

The rules of fast softball are very similar to those of baseball, but the feeling on the field is completely different from baseball. Subject to the pitcher’s pitching method, rules, and close base distance, fastpitch softball’s rhythm is very lively, except for the competition between shots, the defense part has become a very important part of the game, any lack of smoothness or hesitation may pay a huge price, so all the details of running, playing and defense must be paid attention to. There is a huge difference in the "power field" of the ball, which also makes the fastpitch softball movement style more nuanced.

The usual training content...?

We attach great importance to the training of team tacit understanding. The training time is mainly based on team defense drills, supplemented by personalized technical and strike training. After players join the team, after about two to three months of basic and adaptive training, they will gradually observe their suitable defensive positions through performance and carry out field defense training and actual combat simulation exercises according to this defensive position allocation. In addition to continuing to improve basic skills, all fielders are also required to have an agile judgment on each ball in the game, and also familiarize themselves with tactics such as passing directly through this process.

Can only boys join the Fastpitch Softball club?

The recruitment of the club is not limited to men. If you are fascinated by baseball and softball and have general athletic ability, the club also welcomes female players to join. If you are interested in baseball and softball but do not want to join the team training, you can also join the club to become the team manager, follow the players to fight on various courts, and become the strongest backing for the players on the field. Even if you don’t know much about baseball and softball, the seniors will gradually explain the important rules through the situation on the field, and will gradually become familiar with the process of learning records.
